A lowland trail that eventually hooks onto both the Great Western and Clive Greenbelt Trails, this hike takes you through the woods and past a languid stretch of Walnut Creek, dotted with small islands where deer and other wildlife occasionally swim and rest. Like other trails in and around Des Moines, this one is popular with cyclists and can get slightly crowded on weekends and in the early evenings.
